Aftermath: Animecon 2009 #2

by Gwenster on May.07, 2009, under Photography, Visual Media

At long last I’ve found a gap in my busy shedule this week to sort trough my Animecon 09 pictures
and upload them for all to admire, again I aplogise for the long wait I know that some of you
have been quite eager to see the results ! You can find the pictures on a sub-section of my
website namely here: http://animecon.lithiumstate.nl/
I wish I could’ve taken more pictures of all the lovely cosplayers out there, it’s clear for
anyone to see that the level of cosplay in Holland keeps on getting higher and higher.
But alas, the J-pop foundation managed to put quite the amazing line-up in their
video-program so I’ve actually spent quite alot of time sitting in VR-1 or VR-2 :-)

If you, as a cosplayer see a picture of yourself that you’d want a full-version off please
do not hesitate to get in touch with me, there’s a link to my e-mail addy in the
gallery, just mention which picture numbers your on and i’ll have the bigger versions
sent to your e-mail “makkelijker kunnen we het niet maken, wel leuker” !

Some of you may have seen my regular portfolio found here: http://portfolio.lithiumstate.nl/
As you can tell by looking at it I never did cosplay photography before, but I sure as
hell enjoyed it. I’ll be looking forward to taking my DSLR withi me to the next con i’ll be
heading to which looks to be Abunai in September !

Toshiba Camileo S10 review

by Gwenster on Mar.28, 2009, under Visual Media

Camileo package

Wanting to create some great footage during citytrips or just whenever the hell I feel like it in
general I decided to step onto the mini camcorder stage with the Camileo S10 by Toshiba,
which on paperlooks to have the best specifications out of the commonly available ones
in Europe and sadly; we don’t have as much choice as Americans seem to have with
the distinctive lack of any Flip models.

To sum up the specifications of the Camileo S10 it sports up to a 1080P resolution,
image stabilser, 4x optical zoom, the ability to mount SD(HC) cards increasing it’s built
in 128MB storage to 32GB (!) a 2.5 inch rotating view screen, direct HDMI output and
a searchlight for dark conditions.
Supplied with the camera were several accessories including a handy travel case that
snaps onto your belt, a mini tripod, wiping cloth for the lens, a traditional AV cable ,
USB2 cable and last but not least a HDMI cable. The supplied software is by ARCsoft
and well . . I will get to that later.

Nvidia unleashed ! CUDA & N-Physx I chose you !

by Gwenster on Oct.21, 2008, under Visual Media

Nvidia Logo

Last week Nvidia released it`s latest WHQL (officially tested) driver namely forceware 178.24.
So what, big deal ; you say, Nvidia is known for their speedy driver releases so this is no surprise.
Well your sure in for one this time, as the 178.24 drivers enable some rather stunning features that owners of Geforce 8xxx and up cards can use !

Ever since Nvidia had taken over Agea they have been touting that Physics calculation on GPU would be the future, ATI also jumped the bandwagon but neither side showed any results or progress.
Nvidia now supports Nvidia Physx, software run trough CUDA on your Nvidia GPU to accelerate Physics calculations which means you never need to buy that shoddy Ageia card no more.
What`s even better, with the large install base of Nvidia Geforce cards, developers for games are now more enticed than ever to develop games supporting enhanced physics features now more than ever.
But that`s just not all since CUDA allows your GPU to do many more things than just additionally do some physics calculations.
What you say ? Let`s find out after the jump !
